Terms of use

The rules for using Plugshine, and the limits of the information we provide.

By using plugshine.com you agree to these terms.

Information, not advice

Plugshine provides general information about plug-in solar, electricity prices and related laws. It is not legal, financial or electrical advice. Laws, effective dates, utility rules and product certifications change, and your situation is specific. Before installing or connecting any generating equipment:

  • confirm the current law with official state sources;
  • check your utility's rules and your lease or HOA documents;
  • follow the manufacturer's instructions and consult a licensed electrician where appropriate.

Working with electricity can cause fire, injury or death. You are responsible for how you use the information on this site.

Estimates

Savings estimates from our calculator and state pages are approximations based on averages and the assumptions in our methodology. Actual results will differ.

Accuracy

We work hard to keep information accurate and current, and we correct errors promptly, but we make no warranty that the content is complete, accurate or up to date.

Intellectual property

Text, graphics, the Plugshine name and logo are owned by Plugshine. You may quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link. Underlying public data (such as EIA electricity prices) remains subject to its original terms.

We link to third-party websites for sourcing and reference. We aren't responsible for their content or practices.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Plugshine is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content.
